Anxiety in Relationships

Women today are experiencing anxiety at almost twice the rate of men. One reason is that relationships are very important to women and bring anxiety. Work, church, community and family are all systems that are complex, requiring many skills. When we run into a conflict, difficulty communicating that anxiety can become "contagious" but it is treatable!

Anxiety affects approximately 19 million American adults . Most doctor visits for anxiety are for women ages 40 to 59 years old according to one study in 1997 and are increasing. Due to our many roles, changes in family help and location, health issues, complex biological changes, financial pressures and other concerns we women are at greater risk. There are a variety of types of anxiety and it often occurs with depression. Anxiety affects medical health, quality of life and increases risk of sucidality. Counseling can offer support to look at the issues involved and find new ways to deal with your relationship, anxiety symptoms and health.
